building designer gardens and improving lifestyles since 2005
Improving Lifestyles since 2005
I love my garden, my wife loves her
garden and my kids loves their
garden.
Garden design
is about far more than positioning paths and
plants to look good; it is about producing a
landscape
that fulfils lifestyle ambitions.
When it rains, I can smell the rain and
watch droplets roll effortlessly off of big
fat green leaves without leaving a trail
behind - my wife runs out with a big plastic
basket and starts tugging some sheets off
the line, my daughter and eldest son throw
up their 'Peppa Pig' umbrellas
and march up and down the front
path singing 'Grand Ol' Duke of York', while
my baby son sits in his pram mesmerised by
the sensory feast before him; that
really makes me happy.
Each winter when it snows heavily I
fire up the chimnea and we throw our
fleeces on; pour some
red wine and sit in the sheen of the snow
while the sky glows red and we talk for hours warming our feet and
hands and toasting
marshmallows
- that is cool.
When the sun shines, I notice
everybody has a spring in their step - I can
smell sun-cream and
grass cuttings; the sky is blue and
car
radios and scooters
make me think of holidays abroad
- by tea-time the air is full of cooking
burgers and sausages and the sound of
laughing neighbours and everybody's
sipping wine or
sucking a cold bottle of beer, while
the warm wind and the sunset keep the kids
on the climbing frame and the trampoline
until it's time for their bath, and then the
midge torches and lanterns and fairy lights
and candles get lit and more wine and
conversation flows until the stars are fully
shining and everybody says, "look
how clear the sky is!" - and
everybody else says, "yeah - stars are magic
aren't they?"
My wife and I both cook and
grow all our own
vegetables and herbs in our garden
and I'll tell you what - it's true -
home grown tatties are the best!
Believe me your salads, soups and sandwiches will
become masterpieces when the fillings are
made from
your very own plot...
So you see it's not really
about having a path here and a lawn there -
it's about having a
garden - somewhere to do all this
cool stuff and live a life of
fresh air and fun and really
appreciate the precious time we've got to
properly wind down and chill out - enjoy
family, enjoy friends and
enjoy ourselves.
