design considerations

There are two ways of approaching your garden's design.  Basically you can either set your budget first and then work your design accordingly, or you can work your design first and then tailor that to your budget.  Which method you choose depends on whether you want an instant effect, or a long-term project to work away at. Below are some of the key considerations to make when planning out your garden design.

Considerations:

þ who uses the garden? children, entertainment and dining, a keen cook, a keen gardener, pets

þ available space, sun spots, drainage, lighting, shelter, privacy, storage, play areas, and utility areas

þ safety issues - trip hazards, heights, electricity, sharp edges, surfaces, thorned shrubs, toxic plants

þ materials and colour schemes

þ planting co-ordination and suitability

þ budget

þ site works access and materials delivery access
